  4. We hope you enjoy this CD-ROM. If you have any questions or 
  5. suggestions please pass them on to Simitar Software at one of 
  6. the numbers or addresses below.

  8. Please fill out the registration card included in this package
  9. or the electronic version (file "REGISTRA.TXT") and send it to
  10. Simitar. Registration will get you notices of updates, new
  11. products, and special offers.

  14. Disk Contents
  15. -------------

  17. On the CD-ROM there is a directory named "KUDO". Contained in 
  18. that directory are the files that make up the Kudo Image 
  19. Browser along with Apple's QuickTime software. You can run 
  20. Kudo from your CD or copy the directory to your hard disk.
  21.  
  22. The Kudo Image Browser contained on this CD-ROM is a read-
  23. only version of the product. It is provided for reading the 
  24. catalogs on this disk.
  25.  
  26. The movie clips are contained in two folders: 90K and 200K.
  27. The folder named 200K contains clips optimized to play back on
  28. fast computers, and the 90K clips are optimized to play back on
  29. slower machines.
  30.  
  31. The GOODIES folder contains catalogs of other Simitar products
  32. you can order.

  35. Installation Instructions
  36. -------------------------
  37. Note: If you've already installed the Kudo Image Browser from 
  38. another package or own Kudo, you can skip the installation 
  39. and go right to viewing the catalog files provided on this 
  40. CD-ROM.

  42. If you wish to play the movies without installing Kudo or 
  43. QuickTime on your hard disk, you can simply set an 
  44. "association" for the movies.
  45.  
  46.  To set the movie association:
  47.    1) Run File Manager.
  48.    2) Select "Associate" from the File menu.
  49.    3) Enter MOV as the extension.
  50.    4) If the "Associate With" box says "QuickTime Movie" then
  51.       QuickTime has already been installed. Click on Cancel.
  52.       If the "Associate With" box does NOT say "QuickTime
  53.       Movie" then click on "Browse" and find the application
  54.       PLAYER.EXE in the KUDO directory.
  55.    5) Click OK. You're done!

  59. To install the Kudo Image Browser and QuickTime on your hard
  60. disk:
  61.    1) Run File Manager.
  62.    2) Copy the KUDO folder from the CD-ROM to your hard disk.
  63.    3) "Associate" the extension MOV with the application 
  64.       PLAYER.EXE in the folder you just created on your hard
  65.       disk.
  66.    4) "Associate" the extension KBD with the application 
  67.       KUDO_RO.EXE in the folder you just created on your hard
  68.       disk.

  72. Viewing the catalogs
  73. --------------------
  74. There are two ways to open the catalogs included on the
  75. CD-ROM:
  76.  
  77.    1) Run the "KUDO_RO.EXE" application located in the "KUDO" 
  78.       directory.
  79.    2) Choose Open from the Kudo file menu and select the
  80.       catalog located on the CD-ROM drive.

  85.    1) Go into the Windows File Manager
  86.    2) Locate the CD-ROM
  87.    3) Double-click/Run the catalog file located on the top
  88.       level if the CD-ROM (ends with a ".kdb" extension).

  91. Kudo Documentation
  92. ------------------
  93. There is no printed documentation included for the Read Only 
  94. version of Kudo. The main features you will use are the 
  95. browsing and preview features. There are no keywords or 
  96. descriptions included that would be used in a search.

  99. Troubleshooting:
  100. --------------
  101. The KUDO browser on this disk assumes that O: represents your 
  102. CD-ROM drive.  If your CD-ROM drive is mapped to a different 
  103. letter, KUDO will ask you where to find the images for this 
  104. catalog.
  105.  
  106. If you have a non-CD-ROM device mounted as O:, the KUDO 
  107. browser will not be able to find the images it has cataloged.  
  108. You can solve this problem by remapping your drives. If you 
  109. are having difficulties viewing the movies from the Kudo 
  110. Image Browser, please refer to the installation instructions 
  111. above.
